Classes of Highways and PROWs

Highway classes:
- Unadopted Footpath
- Unadopted Bridleway
- Unadopted Byway
- Unadopted Private Road
- Adopted Unclassified Road
- Adopted B Class Road
- Adopted A Class Road
- Adopted Motorway

All bridleways are unadopted highways. Unadopted means it remains in private ownership but carries Highway rights, in this case as a bridleway.

An unadopted highway at bridleway status has no public vehicular rights. Only horse, cycle and pedestrians have a right to use a bridleway.
